My call to teaching came early. I have always loved children. I began as a baby sitter and worked volunteering in recreation programs and Sunday school as a teen. I graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.A. in Education and from Marycrest College with an M.A. in Learning Disabilities.
Out of college, I spent one year teaching 7th-9th graders on the mission field in Mexico City with Wycliffe Bible Translators. After that, I returned to my home town, Clinton, Iowa, and taught 4th grade for three years and Learning Disabilities for three years as well as worked with teenagers at my church as a Sunday school teacher and a youth group leader.
I moved to Washington in 1978 to attend Bible College and also teach in a Christian school. I taught 6th grade for three years and 4th grade for three years. I then married and had my two sons with whom I stayed at home for several years. I returned to classroom teaching at Cedar Park Bothell Campus in 2001 where I taught 3rd grade for four years. I also have taught the 3rd/4th combo class at Cedar Park Bellevue for three years as well as the 4th/5th grade combo for three years.
I consider it a great privilege to be called to teach at Cedar Park and look forward each year to building Christ’s character in the children I teach as well as helping them master their basic academic skills.
