Middle School Academics

From the Desk of Mrs. Gallaher, MS Principal

Welcome to the 2009 - 2010 school year!  The MS staff and I are very excited about all that the Lord has planned for our Middle School students this year.  Our scripture for the year is Romans chapter 12 - check it out and be challenged!

We have many new students joining us this year including some who have relocated from California, Nevada, Colorado, Oregon, New York and even Korea and Russia!  We also have one not-so-new teacher, Miss Shaffer, who has moved from 5th grade to join our MS Faculty and will be coordinating our MS ASB and Leadership.

It's hard to believe but I am entering my 13th year at Cedar Park and my fifth year as a principal.  I am so thankful for the opportunity to have not just a job as an educator, but a ministry that can make an eternal difference in the lives of young people.  It is a joy to watch 6th graders enter this new world of adolescence and Middle School, 7th graders navigate the journey of multiple classrooms/teachers and lockers, and 8th graders trying to figure out who they want to be.

I would like to personally thank each family for choosing Cedar Park Christian School as your family's partner in Christian Education and for your faithfulness in support and prayer.  May God's blessing be upon each family.

8th Grade Washington DC Trip

INFORMATIONAL MEETING: SEPTEMBER 15TH @ 7 P.M. BOTHELL CAMPUS - CHAPEL OF THE RESURRECTION

CPCS eighth graders can take advantage of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of a trip to Washington DC.
Students come home with a greater understanding of their American Chrisitan heritage as well as great
memories made with their peers. Christian Discoveries is the tour company that we use.
They provide a Christian Tour Director, who then provides a Christian perspective towards the sites we visit.
You can visit their website at: www.worldstrides.com Trip ID: 25967

Email or call trip coordinator, Sharla Boeckel for more information (206) 715-0738.

Athletics

Many Middle School students participate in school athletics.  This is a great opportunity to learn or develop skills in a sport along with building friendships and experiencing teamwork under the guidance of Christian coaches and role models.

For more information, contact MS Athletic Director, Mr. Craig Shetterly and visit our MS Athletics webpage.

Student Government (ASB) and 8th gr. Leadership Class

Cedar Park is in the business of growing young people into leaders and one avenue is through ASB.
Each spring a student election is held to vote on the MS ASB president and 6th, 7th and 8th graders can apply,
are evaluated and then two per grade level are appointed by a faculty committee to represent their class in student government. Representatives serve for first semester and in January applications are accepted for second semester.
These students serve as the spiritual leaders of the school as well as servant leaders by serving the needs of their peers.

Additionally, 8th grade students may apply to be in the Middle School Leadership class either first or second semester. Students interested in Leadership apply and are then recommended by their teachers. The purpose of the 8th grade Leadership class is to instruct and grow student leaders who will impact their school, homes and communities for the Lord. The Leadership students plan and organize all Middle School activities and events, pray for their school community, actively get to know the middle school student body and reach out to them, and dedicate themselves to serving their school.

Events include:

Back2School BASH! ~ Movie and Game Nights ~ Pep Assemblies ~ Spirit Week ~ Middle School Mania

Elementary Easter Egg Hunt ~ Charitable Toy Drive ~ New Student Appreciation ~ Royal Family Kids Camp Coin Drive
