"As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD by failing to pray for you. And I will teach you the way that is good and right." 1 Samuel 12:23 I am Paula Lanum, Middle School math teacher at Cedar Park Christian School - Bothell campus. I have been involved in education for 44 years with 26 years in the classroom and 18 years tutoring. My husband and I celebrated our 44th wedding anniversary this summer. We have two adult children, their wonderful spouses and (according to this grandma) 6 perfect grandchildren, the youngest born July 1. My desire is that each of my students have a growing vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ. Then I want each to do his or her very best mathematically. This year my hope is to see each individual student transformed by the renewal of their minds so they can know God's will for them individually. My classroom is filled with butterflies and folks often ask me why. I use butterflies for a very importand reason. The butterfly is a creature that God has given us to see the practical result of transformation. Paul told the Romans, "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is -- his good, pleasing, and perfect will." (Romans 12:2) That is what I am looking for in my students -- that they are being transformed into the likeness of Christ. The butterflies remind me that my students are becorming more beatiful in God's eyes, and in mine, each and every day. I can be reached at 425-488-9778 or by e-mail at paula.lanum@cedarpark.org. E-mail is much more efficient. I can answer e-mail within 2 to 3 hours but the phone may take a day or two. E-mail: paula.lanum@cedarpark.org

News and Updates

Here we are with only 20 plus days left in this year. It has gone by so very fast. So with that in mind, I want to share what is ahead. In PreAlgeba we have been doing an intensive review of basic skills called "Spring Training." We are finished now and will be returning to the book tomorrow. Expect reduced homework everynight but Wednesday and occasionally then as well. We will cover more percent, basic algebra skills and geometry as well as graphing. Do not hesitate to help your student, or have them come to tutorial.

In Algebra, the same it true. We will be having a busy month of May working to complete through lesson 100 if possible.

You may find any individual assignment in InFo Now. The date given is the due date unless we have an interruption. Then I will need to make some adjustment. That means the dates are somewhat flexible.

I can hardly believe that we are near the end of first quarter. It has gone extemely fast.

There is an important assignment coming up next week that needs to be addressed at home as well as school. The math notebook is due on Wednesday, October 26. This should be up to date with all assignments and grades in the planner and all tests, quizzes, and procedure pages in the notebook also needs three marked dividers. Check the cherry procedure pages for more information. This wis worth 100 points -- the same as a test.
