Welcome to the fall, 2011 School year! I am so pleased and humbled to be back for my 6th year of teaching here at Cedar Park. This year I will be teaching 8th Grade US History and 7th Grade Bible.
Just a little information about myself:
As I said, this is my 6th year teaching at CPCS.Prior to this I earned my Masters Degree through Western Governors University and was part of the "Troops to Teachers" program. Prior to this, while in the Navy I earned my Bachelors degree with a focus in History. I retired from the United States Navy in January of 2004 after over 21 years of service as a Navy Instructor and as a Sonar Technician. I have traveled quite literally around the world visiting over 34 countries and 47 states.
My passion in life is to "see the lightbulb go on inside of a student's head" when they learn something I taught and, most importantly, to help young men and women in their walk with Jesus.
In addition to teaching History and Bible I coach MS Soccer and Track and support the 8th grade Washington D.C. Trip.
Outside of school my wife and I are the directors of Royal Family Kids Camp Bothell. I also play Ice Hockey as a goaltender, read history books, enjoy travel, fishing, and spending time with my wife. Please feel free to contact me at: scott.winter@cedarpark.org

Good Afternoon Parents and Students,Happy Easter. On this Good Friday Afternoon I would like to take a moment to say Thank You to all of you for your kindness, your patience, and your hard work throughout this year. I would also like to ask that you pray for one another and our country. I see and hear about so many needs from different students and families. Please pray for healing for one another as many students and family members have been sick or injured or have lost family members. Please also pray for salvation for those who don't know Jesus Christ. Please pray also for our families going on vacations or trips this Easter for safety and God's presence on each of your lives.
As we begin our 4th quarter, your 7th graders are looking and acting a lot like 8th graders and your 8th graders have before our eyes, become young 9th grade men and women. This year seems to have gone especially quickly for some reason.
Please keep on "fighting the good fight" in order to "finish the race God has set for you". On our track team we have adopted the motto "finish strong". I pray that is the motto for each of our students.
For History class, 4th quarter projects have been assigned. Also, my requirement for turning in work has tightened up. From this point on, students have one week to turn in work that is late or it will not be accepted. The work that is late will be graded as late and given half points or less. It is still required that to receive extra credit, 100% of work is to be turned in.
With that said, I know all of my awesome young men and women are up to this challenge and will be successful. Also be reminded for all of my students that I am available daily from 2:45-3:25 to help with work in all areas, not just History. Also, any students with a D or F in any of my classes is required to attend tutorials after school or get a permission form signed by the parent.
I hope and pray God richly blesses each one of you through the remainder of this year. Contact me any time,
Yours in Christ,
Mr. Winter
