This past November we ran a little competition among the students and more specifically the classes. The Goal: bring in as much canned-food products as you can. That goal was accomplished. The seniors won the competition by bringing in 190 items of food, almost 40% of all the food brought in. The food was given Thanksgiving morning at Cedar Park Church. Each year the church has a 10:00am Thanksgiving day service where food is collected, prayed for, and then stocked. The food goes to support Cedar Park’s Food Bank. Overall the experience shows students that we as Christ followers have been given so much. We feel blessed to bless others in return.
Cedar Park Christian Schools and Northwest University have teamed together to offer concurrent credit to our juniors and seniors. Cedar Park Christian School will be the pilot school for NU’s venture into offering concurrent credit to high school students. Concurrent Credit Programs (CCP) allow students the opportunity to earn credit while attending their regular high school classes.
CPCS has offered concurrent credit to its seniors in English the past 3 years through Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho. Concurrent credit is the best option for our school when it comes to programs like Running Start, AP or IB. We maintain control of our distinctly Christian curriculum, while keeping students on campus and allowing them the opportunity to earn college credit. As of now, a current junior has the opportunity to graduate from CPCS (as a senior) with 21 semester credits of college level courses on an accredited 4-year college transcript. These extra credits range between $50 to $150 per credit depending on the course.
Between Northwest University and Northwest Nazarene University, the MLT Campus offers the following courses concurrently:
- English 11 Honors (3)
- English 12 Honors (3)
- US History (3)
- Chemistry (4)
- Anatomy & Physiology (8)
