Abigail Mulugeta Competes at the ACSI National Spelling Bee

After finishing first for her grade level (8th grade) at Districts, overall first at Districts and first in Regionals, Abigail Mulugeta went on to compete in the ASCI Junior High National Spelling Bee in Plano Texas on May 3rd. Abby competed for close to six hours with other spellers, not stopping to eat or talk with family during the competition. When it was over, Abby ended up in the top 10 of the 50 or so other students who competed at the National Spelling Bee, finishing in 9th place.

Abby’s mom Sirgut Ashenaffi wrote to the CPCS – MLT campus family “Thank you so much for your support of our family and specially Abigail through this exciting road. We are all really proud of how well she did and how well she represented God, her family and her school through the talent He gave her”.

We want to thank those here at Cedar Park Christian School who helped in sending Abby and her mom to Nationals. We were able to raise $777 for the trip through donations given from our families during Chapel and a root beer float sale during lunch time.
We are proud of you Abby!

Support for the deQuilettes Family

Cedar Park Christian Schools – Mountlake Terrace hosted a dinner to support the deQuilettes family this past Saturday. Ron deQuilettes is still missing in the Oso mudslide. The deQuilettes ties to this campus go way back to when Ron was a student onsite here at Mountlake Christian. LaRae, his wife, was a bus driver for the school as well. Their four children all attended school at this campus, with the older three graduating in 2002, 2005, and 2008. Over $7800 has been raised so far. Please continue to pray for the family. If you wish to donate, please feel free to bring in a check/cash to the Mountlake Terrace Campus. All proceeds will go directly to LaRae.
